I took my car in to have the air looked at, and they did a free inspection and printed a list of everything my car needed with the quote for each job. Okay, yes, that's pretty standard. The owner, Chris, then took the time to go over the list to help me prioritize repairs, managing to break it down Barney-style without talking down to me, and answered every question clearly. He even went so far as to straight out say that a less-expensive repair was more important than the A/C repair I brought it in for ("If you can only do one repair right now, don't do the [$500] A/C; do the [$250] wheel bearing so you don't have a wreck.")! Also, when a listed repair might have a different price than the one quoted, he told me upfront that it was a possibility and why ("The part you need has 2 hoses; if the part ordered turns out to only have one hose, then the cost may be more to get the right part, but the labor amount will be the same.") I got phone calls throughout the process and felt like I, as a customer, was important, rather than just a way to squeeze money out of someone.
